Sign of the times!

Your Labour Action team photographed this graffiti in Grove Avenue on Saturday March 17th. As almost a week has gone by and nothing has beendone to clear it off, Labour Cllr Phil Greenhead is now on the case. Let's hope this proud Grove Avenue sign will be restored soon. If you see any moreunsightly graffiti please e-mail us at info@hanwell-labour.com. We will then raise it with the Council if nothing is done to remove it within a reasonable length of time.

Half A loaf...........more on Greenford Avenue

Following on from our comment regarding the road surface of Greenford Avenue (see below), it was good to see Ealing Council resurfacing it last week.

However, for some reason, only half was done. They started at the northern end (Ruislip Road) and continued south as far as Hobbayne School and then stopped!

Hanwell Labour calls on the Council to finish the job. The stretch of road from Drayton Bridge Road to the railway bridge is particularly bad!

Labour Leading the Way on Tackling Global Warming!

Climate change is one of the biggest issues today and the debate has shifted from whether we need to act to how much we need to do by when, and the economic implications of doing so. The Labour Government has introduced a draft Climate Change Bill, the first of its kind for any country.
Labour has shown consistent leadership in the field of climate change by setting bold targets and pursuing ambitious policies. The Government is committed to securing a strong multilateral agreement beyond 2012, and within the EU, is pushing hard for ambitious greenhouse gas reduction targets, and to move to a low-carbon economy over time. At home, we have already shown progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and are set to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by nearly double our Kyoto target.
Taken together these measures create a coherent framework that will ensure we achieve reductions in emissions whilst maintaining a strong and growing economy and high levels of social welfare.

LABOUR IN HANWELL CALLS ON EALING COUNCIL TO SURFACE GREENFORD AVENUE

Pedestrians, cyclists and car drivers will be aware of the rapidly deteriorating surface on Greenford Avenue.

This Avenue is the main South to North route in the northern half of Hanwell.

Bus routes E1 and E3 (Part) and E11 (part) use it. It also has heavy traffic going to and from both Greenford and the A40. There are many schools also on this route including Brentside High, Drayton Bridge High, Brentside Primary and Mayfield Primary.

The state of this important road is now a disgrace to Ealing Council. There are many potholes; there are too many “patches” which have been carried out by contractors and most of these “patches” have sunk below road level; other parts are breaking up. There are many holes near the footpaths, which fill with water, and so passing traffic drowns pedestrians.

Surely it is time for the Council to resurface this important thoroughfare?
